Servicing and repairs

How often should my Rolex be serviced?

While we recommend that timepieces be serviced every 10 years, we welcome those that may have missed these service intervals.

Do I need to have purchased my timepiece at Boutellier Montres to have it serviced or adjusted here?

No, we welcome any timepiece for repair and servicing. Our watchmaker has achieved the highest standard of expert accreditation and is able to work on watches of any age or era.

Are you able to clean my timepiece?

Absolutely. Our experts are adept at all elements of restoration and repair, from deep cleaning through to a complete case and bracelet refinishing.

Are your Rolex repairs guaranteed?

We conduct our on-site repairs to stringent aesthetic and functional standard, including timekeeping accuracy and waterproofness. After completing work, your timpiece is covered by a two-year service guarantee.

How long do servicing and repairs usually take?

We aim to complete all repairs in a timely and efficient manner. The complex nature of these timepieces and our incredibly high standards necessitate a time frame of approximately 4–6 weeks for a full service. In rare instances, the availability of parts needed for certain repairs can impact total lead times.

What’s the cost of a service?

Costs associated with a service vary based on the condition of your timepiece and the work required to restore it to a full, reliable standard. Before starting any work, we’ll always provide you with an estimated cost for approval.

How do Necessary Works and Optional Works differ?

After your watch has been assessed, your quote may list both Necessary Works and Optional Works. Necessary Works are essential for returning your timepiece to its original, reliable working order. Optional Works consist of non-essential procedures we believe may benefit your timepiece, including cosmetic improvements.

Of course, should you want further clarification, we’re available to discuss any part of your quote.

How should I clean my timepiece?

Unwanted superficial marks can be removed by gently cleaning your timepiece with a microfibre cloth. It can also be helpful to occasionally wash the bracelet and case with soapy water and a soft-bristle brush. Please note, to prevent water ingress, take special care to ensure the winding crown is properly secured.

What does refinishing entail?

Refinishing is a professional polishing process that can remove scratches and dents, restoring your timepiece’s original appearance by reapplying the original finish. Due to the complex nature of this process, it should only ever be undertaken by an Official Rolex Service Centre like Boutellier Montres.

Is refinishing optional?

Yes, we include our refinishing process on all complete overhauls – but we can remove this process if you elect not to have it done for any reason.

Can I adjust my own bracelet?

We strongly recommend having any adjustments made by a member of our skilled team.  Adjustments require specialised tools, care and experience to ensure your timepiece isn’t damaged in the process.
