Rolex and Boutellier Montres History

Our story began in 1934, when Patrick Boutellier’s grandfather opened his first watch store in Brugg, Switzerland. The tradition continued with Patrick’s father—a watchmaker for Rolex in 1967, and today lives on, in its third generation at Boutellier Montres.

Generations of watchmaking knowledge since 1934

Growing up in a watchmaking family, Mr. Boutellier personifies a tradition that goes back to his grandfather, who had opened his own store in 1934. He was running that over the years with his grandmother, whilst his father was a watchmaker in Geneva at Rolex in 1967.

Mr. Boutellier completed a four-year apprenticeship as a watchmaker in the same watchmaking school in Solothurn as his grandfather and father did, however realised he also wanted to explore the world and the watch industry. His global experience led to stints in Hong Kong, Amsterdam, London, and Singapore – before finally declaring Melbourne his forever home.

A new Rolex boutique

In December 2021, a new Rolex boutique is opened at 70 Collins Street in Melbourne. To this, Mr. Boutellier brings a rich legacy and knowledge of fine Swiss timepieces, and a developed understanding of the brand through his previous experiences in the watchmaking industry.
